Kurt Jamiel grew up watching clients come in and out of his parent’s insurance agency, sometimes just to talk with his parents and share stories. Kurt understands that serving his clients is much more than an investment recommendation or a planning checklist; it’s personal. So he gets involved, personally ensuring that the details of what his clients need are done correctly. Over time, many have become his friends, and some are more like family.

Coming from a line of successful investors and tutored in the stock market by his father, Kurt has a lifelong respect for the capital markets and a passion for financial puzzle-solving.

But before beginning his career in financial services, Kurt earned an advanced degree in Law and then served his country as a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Officer assigned to an Infantry Brigade in South Korea. These experiences provided critical thinking and communication skills necessary to identify key issues, organize solutions, and clearly communicate appropriate courses of action.

Kurt spent eight years at several financial institutions, creating comprehensive financial plans and financial solutions for their clients. He sharpened his skills at Sage Management in Washington, D.C., and then as a vice president with the Bank of Boston. In July 2003, Kurt formed Jamiel Financial Advisors, LLC, combining his investment, legal, and geo-political experience to serve his own clients.

Kurt loves to learn new things. He is passionate about the sense of discovery and adventure found in being outdoors, where he enjoys hiking, backpacking, saltwater fishing, sailing, or just walking on the beach with his wife, Mary, and their super-energetic dog, Lucy. He loves giving his friends and their children an incredible experience on his boat, cruising and fishing the Narragansett Bay, the beautiful Rhode Island Sound, and the majestic Vineyard Sound.

Woodworking is another source of challenge and satisfaction for Kurt. He participated in an adult wood joinery class where he designed and built a cherry breakfast table, learning how to make what he wanted it to be without sacrificing the integrity or strength of the wood.

Following in the footsteps of his parents and grandparents, helping others is part of Kurt’s life. He served as President of the Warren Conservation Commission, as a board member and volunteer for The Coggeshall Farm Museum, and as President and Board Member of Animal Rescue Rhode Island. Kurt has enjoyed volunteering as a teacher and mentor for Junior Achievement, and from time to time, you might see him shoveling snow to make sure his neighbor’s path is safe and clear.

Hard work and a can-do attitude run in Kurt’s family, and with sixty relatives in close proximity, family is always around the corner!
